About Me

Beyond Brave Counseling® – because YOU are beyond brave.

You have a lot on your plate and a lot on your mind.

Maybe you’re worried…

Worried about your family.

Your kids.

Work stress.

Whether you can balance your obligations.

Maybe traumatic memories are surfacing.

You’re wondering if you’ll ever feel like yourself again.

You know therapy’s an option.

Maybe you’ve tried it before, and it wasn’t a great experience.

You weren’t comfortable, or you didn’t feel understood.

If you’re going to open up to someone about the deepest parts of your personal life, the last thing you want is to feel judged or unheard by your therapist.

Hi I’m Alexandra Mihalakos, and I’m here to listen.

I am humbled and honored to have the trust of my clients – and work really hard to make sure you feel safe, supported, and heard.

Because your commitment to therapy – to working through your experiences – is so admirable.

And I named my practice as a constant reminder...

You are “Beyond Brave” for taking this step.

You’re choosing someone to walk alongside you on your healing journey. That’s huge! It can be really vulnerable and scary.

So my promise is this: I will be fully committed to your healing or the healing of your child in a truly judgment-free zone.

Personalized Mental Health Counseling

I opened Beyond Brave Counseling® LLC because I feel strongly about personalized, inclusive, and supportive therapy practice tailored to each and every client.

No two people are the same – that means no two therapy approaches can be, either.

I’ve had a lot of opportunity to figure that out! Since graduating with a Masters in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Central Florida, I’ve worked in outpatient clinics, school settings, juvenile detention centers, domestic violence centers, and with women and children who’ve been sexually abused or experienced other trauma.

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida and a Certified Telehealth Practitioner. That means I can see you in person in my Orlando, FL office or via telehealth/online therapy throughout the state of Florida.

I’m certified in EMDR and in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I use a combination of these and other techniques to make sure each one of my clients gets the therapy experience they need and deserve.

Okay, Alexandra, but are we a good fit?

Great question!

We’ve already established that I think you’re brave for seeking therapy – and I’d love to help support you on your journey.

But if you’re still not convinced, here’s some of the less “official” stuff to give you a sense for who you’ll be meeting with.

👋 My name is Alexandra Mihalakos. Yes, I’m Greek, and I speak Greek. Yes, my life is definitely like My Big Fat Greek Wedding (So I know about the importance of culture having an impact on a person’s lived experience!)

👋 I’m a HUGE Disney fan. I definitely live in the right place!

👋 I practice inclusivity, respect diversity, and I’m here to support all marginalized communities. This includes the LGBTQIA community and clients who are Black or Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC).

👋 I’m a big kid at heart! This helps my teen and young clients feel heard, too.

👋 Fact: I love The Office. A good reference will get me every time!

I’m also a big fan of coffee, traveling – and all of the amazing things therapy can do for women, children, and teens who just need a genuine, supportive healing space where they can process their thoughts and feelings.

If you think we might be a good match but I haven’t touched on your unique situation, don’t let that stop you from reaching out. Let’s talk.
