Anxiety Therapy

Being human is tough.

No, really!

Life is wonderful, but it’s also full of ups, downs and even the in-between. It can be hard to keep up.

Maybe you’re worried about your relationship…

Your job.

Your health.

Finances or your money situation.

Maybe you’re worried for your safety or the safety of a loved one or your child.

Maybe the world just seems really scary, and you’re feeling it every single day.

And maybe it’s starting to creep up in different ways. You feel your neck and shoulder muscles stiffening, and your jaw aching from holding all the tension. You’re getting headaches, your stomach’s been bothering you, and it feels like your heart is going to beat right out of your chest sometimes.

Maybe you’ve noticed mood and behavior changes, as well. You’re having a hard time making decisions, and you’ve got less patience for minor inconveniences. You’re irritable and snapping at the people around you.

You’ve started to avoid social situations… You might be hesitant to leave the house unless you absolutely have to. And it’s hard to concentrate because you just feel worried all the time.

You know you can’t avoid any and all anxiety in life…

But this feels like a little too much to handle.

You aren’t alone.

Anxiety is so, so common in the United States, affecting nearly 40 million people. That’s almost 20% of our population! (And that still only accounts for the people who report it and talk about it. The real number is undoubtedly A LOT higher.)

From generalized anxiety to social anxiety, phobias, and panic attacks, there are a lot of ways for anxiety to make itself an unwelcome guest in our lives.

Anxiety doesn’t have to take the wheel.

Anxiety is your body’s reaction to stimuli it doesn’t fully understand. Sometimes, the wires get a little crossed.

And that’s very normal! Our bodies do a great job of functioning on their own – they just need some help processing information now and again.

You might feel like you’re used to having this anxiety all the time… And maybe you are. But that doesn’t have to mean it sits in the driver’s seat.

I help women, children, and teens uncover the roots of their anxiety and move beyond it.

When you work with me, you enter a safe, supportive space where you can explore the root causes of your anxiety and make sense of all your feelings.

Anxiety Therapy for Children & Teens

Or maybe you’re more concerned about your child. A little bit of anxiety is normal in young people. After all, they’re learning and growing as they explore our world!

Even teenagers are having new experiences daily – from hormones to navigating social and romantic relationships on their own, balancing school, clubs, sports, or a job... Yikes! It can be overwhelming.

Alongside this normal anxiety should be fun, and growth, and laughter. But instead, you might feel like the anxiety seems to have taken over, in one way or another.

Maybe your child has become clingy, or they’re having a tough time being left alone or under the care of others. Maybe they seem extra-worried about everyday concerns or about where you are.

They might be easily annoyed, avoiding school or other social situations, or having headaches or stomach aches with no discernible cause.

As a child therapist, I help young people start to figure it all out. Using play therapy and other age- and developmentally-appropriate techniques, I work to connect with your child and address the root causes of their fears and worries.
